Pathway to Resilience & Recovery:

Pathway to Resilience & Recovery

Co- Designing Inclusive Models for Sustainable
Wellbeing in Trafford”

Project Overview
Pathway to Resilience & Recovery is a community-led research and engagement project designed to understand and address the recovery needs of underserved communities across Trafford. Led by Voice of BME Trafford, the project focuses on individuals and families affected by substance misuse, social isolation, unemployment, mental health challenges, and long-term health conditions.

Through meaningful community engagement and co-production, we aim to identify barriers to recovery, amplify lived experiences, and develop culturally appropriate and sustainable models that support wellbeing, resilience, and long-term recovery.

Why This Project Matters
Many individuals experiencing substance misuse face complex challenges that extend beyond addiction itself. Factors such as loneliness, poor mental health, unemployment, social exclusion, cultural stigma, and limited access to support services can significantly affect recovery outcomes.

This project seeks to better understand these experiences and ensure that future recovery services are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to the  needs of Trafford’s diverse communities.

Who We Are Working With
The project will engage:

  • Residents from ethnically diverse communities across Trafford
  • Older adults aged 50+
  • Young adults aged 18–25
  • Individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use challenges
  • Families affected by substance misuse

We aim to engage 40–50 residents through research activities, with 20–30 individuals actively participating in recovery-focused engagement and support opportunities.

Our Objectives
The project will:

  • Explore the factors contributing to substance use and recovery challenges.
