Saving lives plus was commissioned by CCG Trafford and overseen by Public Health Trafford. This project was aimed at reducing health inequalities in Trafford by promoting Health Screening and Health Checks in the community. The emphasis had been more on engaging with male community members.
To achieve this, different strategies were adopted by the male engagement worker including ‘Bus stop talk’. An intensive piece of work was completed in the summer with the four local mosques in Old Trafford. This outreach work was aimed at creating awareness on NHS Health checks and Bowel Screening. Health Engagement Volunteers were further trained to deliver the talks in the community whilst acting as ‘Saving Lives Ambassadors’.
